How to Care for & Clean a Glass Chopping Board
Share
Glass chopping boards are easy to care for when you follow a few simple habits. Cleaning them after food preparation, avoiding sudden temperature changes and handling the glass carefully will help keep the board looking its best.
Care instructions vary between manufacturers, so always follow the information supplied with your own board. Dad’s Cabin tempered-glass chopping boards are dishwasher safe and heat resistant up to 200°C.
How do you clean a glass chopping board?
For everyday cleaning, remove food debris and wash the board after use. A normal kitchen washing-up routine is suitable when it follows the care instructions supplied with the board.
Because glass is non-porous, it does not absorb liquids in the same way as many natural materials. As with any food-preparation surface, clean it thoroughly between uses, particularly when changing between different foods.
Can Dad’s Cabin glass chopping boards go in the dishwasher?
Yes. Dad’s Cabin glass chopping boards are dishwasher safe and have been tried and tested by us. This applies to our own boards; do not assume that every printed glass chopping board from every manufacturer is dishwasher safe.
Are Dad’s Cabin chopping boards heat resistant?
Yes. Dad’s Cabin tempered-glass chopping boards are heat resistant up to 200°C. They can therefore be used as worktop savers as well as chopping boards and serving boards.
Heat resistant does not mean impossible to damage. Avoid extreme thermal shock, such as moving glass suddenly between very cold and very hot conditions.
How should I protect the printed design?
Dad’s Cabin uses high-quality printed designs intended to resist fading and scratching. Sensible handling is still recommended: avoid deliberately scraping the printed surface with abrasive or sharp objects and do not use cleaning methods outside the supplied care guidance.
Can I use abrasive cleaners on a glass chopping board?
For routine care, there is normally no need to use aggressive abrasive cleaning methods. A straightforward wash or dishwasher cycle is sufficient for Dad’s Cabin boards. If using any specialist cleaning product, check that it is suitable for the decorated glass surface first.
How do I stop a glass chopping board moving?
Dad’s Cabin rectangular boards are supplied with clear feet for stability and to help protect the worktop underneath. Place the board on a clean, stable surface and make sure the feet and worktop are free from debris before use.
How should I store a glass chopping board?
Store the board where it will not be knocked, dropped or put under unnecessary pressure. Many people leave decorative glass boards flat on the worktop as worktop savers, allowing the printed design to remain on display.
What size are Dad’s Cabin glass chopping boards?
Our standard rectangular glass chopping boards are approximately 39 × 30cm. Bottle-shaped boards are approximately 35.5 × 18.7cm. Both formats are made from tempered glass.
Can a personalised glass chopping board be cleaned in the same way?
Dad’s Cabin personalised glass chopping boards use the same practical glass format where specified, so follow the care information provided with the product. Selected boards can be personalised with names, wording or your own photograph or image.
